Entry Requirements

Foundation Courses

Academic requirements:

You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with very good grades to study architecture in the UK.
English requirements:

Four term: a minimum of IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in all subskills) or an equivalent score

Three term: a minimum of IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in all subskills) or an equivalent score

Some programmes like architecture require a portfolio - Enquire for further details.

 

Diploma Porgrammes

Academic requirements:

Satisfactory completion of 'A' levels, a recognized Foundation programme, first year of overseas university programme or equivalent.
English requirements:

3 term programmes: IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in writing) or equivalent.

4 term programmes: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent.

Graduate Diploma Programmes

Academic requirements:
  • Pass in an undergraduate degree (as approved by INTO Newcastle University)
  • Diploma (3-5 years) with good grades (as approved by INTO Newcastle University)
English requirements:

Minimum of IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or an equivalent score.

For students progressing to Newcastle Law School:

A minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in all subskills) or an equivalent score

What's the difference between the 3 and 4 term course?

Lasting 4 terms, the Extended International Diploma incorporates an additional term of intensive English tuition on the same visa, and typically has a lower English language entry requirement.

If you need to study more than one term of English in order to reach the level necessary for academic study you should aply for the English for University Study course.

Tuition fees do not include:

  • enrolment fee - an additional charge of £150 per academic programme (to be charged upon confirmation)
  • text books - an additional charge in the region of £190 per academic course (3 terms), £250 per academic course (4 terms)
  • lab fee - an additional £375 per year fee to cover the use of laboratory facilities (only applicable to science-based courses)
