ABOUT ICM UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA

 

The University of Manitoba is a public university in the province of Manitoba, Canada. Located in Winnipeg, it is a research-intensive post-secondary educational institution. Founded in 1877, it was Western Canada’s first university, since when the University of Manitoba has been at the centre of postsecondary education in our province, and has adhered to its core philosophy that access to the best education must be available to all who have the ability to benefit by it, regardless of sex,
race, creed, language or nationality.

 

The university has an enrolment of approximately 27,000 students - 24,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate. The university offers more than 90 degrees, more than 60 at the undergraduate level. Most academic units offer graduate studies programs leading to master’s or doctoral degrees.

 

In 2007-08, the university acquired more than $150 million in research income. The university holds 48 Canada Research Chairs and is either home to or a partner in 37 research centres, institutes and shared facilities. These centres foster collaborative research and scholarship.

 

As of 2010, there have been 96 Rhodes Scholars from the University of Manitoba, more than from any other university in Western Canada.

By choosing to study at ICM, you will be undertaking a program that is moderated by the University of Manitoba to ensure the highest academic quality.

 

Begin your program at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus with qualified instructors, in smaller classes and with longer teaching sessions. Provided you meet the required grade-point average (GPA) for entry, you will be able to transfer directly into the second year of your degree at the University of Manitoba.

Pathway Programmes

Undergraduate Pathways

 

UTP STAGE 1

 

This program is designed for students who require additional academic courses before starting a full university degree equivalent program (UTP Stage II). You will be required to study eight courses over two terms (four courses per term).

 

ICM offers a University Transfer Program Stage I (UTP Stage I), which is designed as a bridge between secondary school
and university–level study. Successful completion of the program with the necessary grades assures you entry to ICM UTP Stage II in Arts, Business, Engineering or Science.

 

UTP STAGE 2

 

UTP Stage II is the equivalent of the first year of a University of Manitoba bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, Business,
Science or Arts. The program can be completed in three academic terms.

 

Upon successful completion of UTP Stage II, if you  satisfy university admission requirements and deadlines and achieve the specified minimum GPA, you will be eligible to transfer to the second year of your degree at the University of Manitoba. Admission to some degree programs will be on a competitive basis and subject to quotas.

Bangladesh: Higher Secondary School Certificate (10+2) with a 50% average in 4 academic subjects

GCSE O + A Levels: GCE ‘A’ level with D passes in 2 academic subjects

Bangladesh: Higher Secondary School Certificate (10+2) with 55% average in 4 academic subjects
