Wide choice of subjects

City University London was awarded university status in 1966 and many of its schools have a longer heritage, dating back to the mid-Victorian period. Today, the University has five Schools covering a wide range of subjects, including: business, law, health sciences, engineering, mathematical sciences, informatics, social sciences and the arts, including journalism and music.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Courses

Academic requirements: You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.
English requirements:

Four term: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in writing) or equivalent

Three term: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent

Academic requirements:

Completion of a minimum of three years of higher education with good grades.

Previous study in a relevant academic discipline or relevant industry experience for specialised master’s courses may be required for admission.

English requirements:

What's the difference between the 3 and 4 term course?

Lasting 4 terms, the Extended International Diploma incorporates an additional term of intensive English tuition on the same visa, and typically has a lower English language entry requirement.

If you need to study more than one term of English in order to reach the level necessary for academic study you should aply for the English for University Study course.

Tuition fees do not include:

  • enrolment fee: an additional charge of £150 per academic programme
  • text books and other learning materials: an additional charge in the region of £220 per academic course (3 terms), £300 per academic course (4 terms), £80 per English term
  • iPad fees
    1. One payment of £300; or
    2. If you have your own compatible device and will be bringing this with you to the UK, there will be no additional charge
