World class teaching

Teaching standards are among the highest in the country, and the Quality Assurance Agency placed Manchester Metropolitan University in the 20 top in the UK for teaching quality.

In the 2001 RAE, Exercise and Sports Science research team were judged 'world class', achieving the top mark available 5*, signifying international excellence. Seven other fields of research were awarded 4, the standard of national excellence.

Entry Requirements

Foundation Courses

Academic requirements: You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with good grades.

English requirements:

4-term programme: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.5 in writing) or equivalent.

3-term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent.

Year 1 Diploma

Academic requirements: Successful completion of A-levels, a recognised foundation, first year of an overseas university degree programme or equivalent with good grades.

Applicants for finance and accounting routes must have a minimum of GCSE Grade C in Mathematics or equivalent.
English requirements:

4-term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in all subskills) or equivalent.

3-term programme: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in reading and writing) or equivalent.

Graduate Diploma

Academic requirements Successfully completion a a bachelor's degree or have an equivalent 3-year university diploma.

Students with a 3-year diploma are offered a more limited range of progression opportunities for master's study. Work experience in a related area can increase this range for diploma holders.

English requirements:

3-term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in reading and writing) or equivalent.

2-term programme: IELTS 5.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading and writing) or equivalent.

Please note: for visa purposes students requiring a Tier 4 visa must have IELTS 5.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent.

What's the difference between the 3 and 4 term course?

Lasting 4 terms, the Extended International Diploma incorporates an additional term of intensive English tuition on the same visa, and typically has a lower English language entry requirement.

If you need to study more than one term of English in order to reach the level necessary for academic study you should aply for the English for University Study course.

Tuition fees do not include:

  • Enrolment fee: an additional charge of £150 per academic programme (to be charged upon confirmation).
  • Text books: an additional charge in the region of £210 per 3-term academic course, or £280 per 4-term academic course.
  • Use of studio facilities: an additional charge of £350 per year.
